It had been a hell of a day, and Thatcher was grateful the peace and tranquility of home was seconds away. Each step toward the front door brought him closer to sanity, closer to his perfect life. Closer to Liv, and Ari, and everything that gave real meaning to his existence. Sitting on the couch with them, spending a quiet night in, was the thought that got him through the day.

But when he opened the door, Top 40 trash music at deafening levels assaulted his ears.

Following it in a strange version of hotter/colder led him to the kitchen, where he found the perpetrator of the crimes against his eardrums.

Liv's back was to him, a pair of perfect legs disappearing under the oversized sweater she lived in. Her blonde hair was piled high on top of her head in the sloppiest bun he'd ever seen, and several tendrils escaped to caress her neck.

The baby wrap criss crossed her back, and she was jumping around to the beat of the horrendous noise emanating from the speakers.

The smile crossed his lips before he could stop it, before he even realized it.

When she turned, her eyes focused on Ari, a broad smile on her face as she bounced their daughter chaotically around the room. If tiny giggles hadn't accented the music, he'd have worried about Ari’s safety.

A stain of something or other marred the front of Liv’s sweater, and Thatcher had never seen anything sexier in his life. He'd never be fulfilled without her. Couldn't imagine coming home from work and not having her dancing in his kitchen to music that violated his ears.

Which meant he needed to find a way to convince her to stay with him, marry him, promise him she’d never go. For better or worse. For so much longer than what their earthly lives would provide them.

She looked up and gasped, stopping the strange dance as her eyes grew wide. “Alexa, pause. You're home early."

He nodded, disappointed the music, and her dance, had come to an end. "Why did you stop? She seemed to be enjoying it."

Ari's giggles halted, and she babbled loudly as she reached out toward him. If there was anything in the world that could affect him as much as Liv’s adoring looks, it was Arianna’s newfound ability to reach out to him in a bid for his attention. "You hate that music."

"I never had a reason to appreciate it before." He stepped closer and pressed a kiss to the wispy hair on Ari's head before lifting her into his arms, then tucked a loose strand of Liv’s hair behind her ear.

She was even more beautiful up close. Every errant strand of hair, the remnants of yesterday's eyeliner shadowing her eyes, the circle of drool on her sweater. Nothing he'd ever seen could hold a candle to her in that moment.

"I know I'm a mess."

"You're beautiful, Liv. It's why I can't look away."

She laughed uneasily, pushing that same lock of hair back behind her ear. "I'm a train wreck.
